Details for MrBayes (hide)
Name: | MrBayes |
Version: | 3.2.7a |
OS: | Linux |
About: | MrBayes is a program for Bayesian inference and model choice across a wide range of phylogenetic and evolutionary models. MrBayes uses Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods to estimate the posterior distribution of model parameters. |
Added: | 1/13/2014 4:47:09 PM |
Updated: | 4/23/2019 4:39:41 PM |
Link: | http://mrbayes.sourceforge.net/ |
Notes: | You need to use full path to the program. This software was compiled with AVX2 support, and only works on generation 2 machines (both medium and large memory) and extra large memory machines. To check whether a computer suppot AVX2 , run this command "grep avx2 /proc/cpuinfo", to see if there is a flag "avx2". If you have to use computers without avx and avx2, use the command "/programs/mrbayes_3.2.7a/bin/mb.basic"
Run MrBayes without parallelization:
/programs/mrbayes_3.2.7a/bin/mb [options]
MrBayes is compiled with Beagle support, but it is NOT turned on unless the user tells the program to do so. If you want to use Beagle support (should be faster) you need to execute
set usebeagle=yes
in your command list.
We also support parallel version of MrBayes that uses MPI library. To invoke parallel MrBayes you need to use the following command
mpirun -np N /programs/mrbayes_3.2.7a/bin/mb.mpi [options]
where N must be substituted with the number of processors to use. Please refer to total number of cores in Lab hardware description for the number of cores (processors) on each type of workstation. MrBayes usually works best with number of processors below 10.
To run previous version 3.2.2 , use /programs/mrbayes/mb /programs/mrbayes/mb.mpi commands.
