Details for jupyter (hide)
Name: | jupyter |
Version: | 20171218 |
OS: | Linux |
About: | The Jupyter Notebook is a web application that allows you to create and share documents that contain live code, equations, visualizations and explanatory text. |
Added: | 2/16/2016 3:26:16 PM |
Updated: | 12/18/2017 11:52:26 AM |
Link: | http://jupyter.org/ |
Notes: | We recommed that you install Jupyter by yourself using conda. This way, you can install other python modules by yourself, instead of having to ask us to install every python module for you, which could take time.
Here are the instruction if you want to run Jupyter installed by biohpc admin. You are restricted to using python modules we installed.
Jupyter runs as a web server. You can access it through a web browser on you laptop/desktop.
#Start Jupyter server in "screen" persistent session
#Start Jupyter notebook server
export PYTHONPATH=/programs/jupyter3/lib/python3.6/site-packages:/programs/jupyter3/lib64/python3.6/site-packages
export PATH=/programs/jupyter3/bin:$PATH
jupyter notebook --ip=0.0.0.0 --port=8016 --no-browser
Once the server starts, you will be provided with a URL to access Jupyter notebook, which should start with http://cbsuxxxxx.biohpc.cornell.edu.
Press ctrl-d to exit "screen".
If your computer is shared by multiple people, each one of you can start a different Jupyter server with different ports, using the ports between 8009 and 8039.
#To kill the Jupyter server
#reconnect screen session
screen -r
#press ctrl-c
